We are delighted to announce that RHG has been approved by the IVF regulator the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority (HFEA) to restart IVF as of today (12/05/2020).
Just 16 hours after submitting the application to the regulator, we received the go ahead to restart treatment which will come as welcome news to those patients whose IVF treatment had been put on hold by the COVID-19 pandemic.
We had been required to demonstrate that strict measures have been put in place to ensure the ongoing safety of our patients and staff in the ‘new normal’ era for IVF following the pause in treatment caused by the pandemic.
RHG Clinical Director Professor Luciano Nardo said: ‘We are very grateful for the quick and positive response by the HFEA to our application. We have worked extremely hard to show that we have in place all the necessary measures to keep everyone safe. We have ample space within our clinic to ensure that patients and staff can easily maintain safe distancing, all our patients have private rooms with their own ensuite facilities and we have implemented new policies, procedures and protocols for everyone’s safety. We look forward very much to welcoming patients back to our clinic after this worrying time for everyone within the fertility field.’
Karen Schnauffer, Laboratory Director added: ‘We are thrilled that the HFEA have given us approval to restart treatment at RHG. We understand how difficult it has been recently for our patients and we have been working extremely hard to ensure that we provide a safe environment for both patients and staff. We have adapted our working practices to meet the local and national safety guidelines to minimise the risk of Covid-19 transmission and have introduced ongoing monitoring of patients and staff and are providing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) in line with Public Health England advice.’
